Who’s more right wing, Barak Obama or Ronald Regan?

I’ll bet Obama. Less racist, sexist, homophobic, but he hates the poor and if there’s still a middle class, waaaaaaay more than Regan and loves the “job creators”. Excuse me, I mean the super, ultra, mega, sickeningly rich.

Who’s more right wing, Obama or Bush? I don’t know anymore. I know I’d vote Bush or nothing, most definately nothing, over Obama even though I’m lefty. Obama and the Canadian Liberals are the same, they stand for nothing except slogans.

When the Democrats were trying find their nominee I said Obama will beat Hillary because the US isn’t as racist as the are sexist right now, but they both are too right wing. The US has no left wing. Everyone can’t understand why they’re in the position they are.  I do.

Caveat: Right wing isn’t wrong all the time. I firmly belive in the mix of left and right wing ideas. Not “moderate” that’s BS, just a mix. (mostly left in my case but some right)

Why Does Herman Cain Keep Quoting Donna Summer’s “The Power of One,” from Pokémon: The Movie 2000?

“A poet once said, ‘life can be a challenge, life can seem impossible, but it’s never easy when there’s so much on the line.’”

Herman Cain cited these inspiring words of a “poet” during his closing statement to Thursday night’s presidential debate.

He used the same quote for his campaign announcement, and at the Republican Leadership Conference.

I don’t understand all the accusations of sexism.  What is it about Michelle Bachmann that makes what people are doing sexist?

Are people:

- critisizing her too much/not enough?

- critisizing only her to the exclusion of all others?

- saying false things?

- objectifying her?

- saying a man could do it better?

Maybe a few things before I answer these.

Here’s some examples of what I think is sexist

“The Lord says be submissive. Wives, you are to be submissive to your husbands.”

“The husband is the head of the wife … Wives should submit to their husbands in everything.”

“My husband said ‘Now you need to go and get a post-doctorate degree in tax law.’ Tax law! I hate taxes—why should I go and do something like that?” she told the audience. “But the Lord says be submissive. Wives, you are to be submissive to your husbands.”

~ Michelle Bachmann

This person is CLEARLY sexist.

Here’s some examples of what I think is ‘pants on head’ crazy

“I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out under another, then under another Democrat president, Jimmy Carter. I’m not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it’s an interesting coincidence.” -Rep. Michele Bachmann, on the 1976 Swine Flu outbreak that happened when Gerald Ford, a Republican, was president, April 28, 2009

“Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn’t even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas.” -Rep. Michelle Bachmann, April, 2009

“If we took away the minimum wage — if conceivably it was gone — we could potentially virtually wipe out unemployment completely because we would be able to offer jobs at whatever level.” Michele Bachmann, Jan. 2005

- Bachmann hates the Renaissance for ending those nice Dark Ages. No, really.

This person is CLEARLY crazy and HIGHLY dangerous.

So, are people wrong to critisize her, A LOT? Not at all and it’s not being done enough.

Are people doing it to the exclusion of all others? I don’t think so but I think the saying “squeeky-crazy wheel gets the grease” might take presidence here. There are plenty of others on the Republican side that are quite crazy, sexist and dangerous but they aren’t front runners to be nominated and then possibly be the next President. The other runners aren’t being excluded from what I’m hearing.

Saying false things? There’s no reason to. I can’t think of a single thing more terrifying than a person of power wishing it was the darkages still.

Objectifying her? Well yes sort of and rightly so. If she wasn’t pretty I very much doubt we’d be talking about this. This is the exact reason the right has latched on to her, it was their idea and it’s a good one too cause it’s working.  It’s not sexist to use your looks to get something, manipulative sure, evil maybe, but not sexist.

She’s popular and people are backing her up. I don’t think anyone is saying she should sit down and let the men work. (other than her husband in his own special way)

There are some Republicans that aren’t crazy and highly dangerous. If we don’t grind the crazies into the ground every chance we get, then these ‘non-crazies’ will never get a chance to become the nominee.

Am I wrong or missing something here?

I KNEW Rob Ford couldn’t do a marathon anything, other than marathon eating, sleeping with a sprinkle of racism, homophobia and sexism.  Of course he only understands 3 of those words. Eating, sleeping and sprinkle.

Mayor Rob Ford promised a “Marathon Toronto committee meeting” to hear what citzens had to say about all the services being cut.

Of course that’s alot easier if you sleep through it. http://twitpic.com/5xbmy5#.TjICF0nPsf8.facebook

Should have used one of these.

Conservatives, your “fascist” is showing again.

Police will be soon be able to track every e-mail sent, every website visited and every comment left on Facebook - all without warrants or judicial review.

“Canadians do all manner of business and personal pursuits on their cell phones and online,” said New Democrat Privacy and Digital Affairs Critic Charlie Angus. “These provisions would force local phone and internet providers to spy on Canadians.”

Conservatives have indicated that “lawful access” provisions will be included in their omnibus crime legislation this fall.

With the crimerate dropping for the last 20 years I guess we don’t have to guess how they’re going to fill their soon to be built mega prisons anymore, do we?

So far that I’ve noticed, the people that mention Casey Anthony are almost exclusively women and in that group the more they talk about it the more likely they are mothers. There’s even news stories of women getting in physical fights over this. The fact that they’re women and more likely mothers is just an observation and maybe even a misinformed one, but I feel like I’m missing something here.

Here’s another observation, there wasn’t enough evidence to convict her and people WILL NOT STOP talking about it. Why is it that no one has anything to say about this:

“…priest pleaded guilty to sexually abusing 13 children”

“They were trading boys the way we trade hockey cards”

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2011/07/11/raymond-marie-lavoie-quebec-priest_n_895321.html

It’s not just people I know. At this moment there are 8 comments on this news article. There are many, many, many articles about Casey Anthony and each has a billion comments. Most of which are screaming for her head.

No talk about it before, during or immediately after. Now that it’s done I assume people will continue to not care. I don’t understand the selective outrage. What’s the reason?

Sort of off topic questions:

How the hell are people still Catholic?

Why the crap are we still funding public schools AND Catholic schools?

Who could ever donate money to this sesspool of pedophilia?

Why we should raise Corporate taxes back to year 2000 level at least.

Statistics Canada figures indicate that private non-financial corporations held $471 billion of cash in the first quarter of 2011. Including short-term paper would bring this total to half a trillion dollars, enough to pay off the national debt (i.e. accumulated deficit).

Cash hoarding is a critical point in the debate about corporate taxes. If incremental after-tax profits are being deposited (rather than reinvested or paid out), lower corporate tax rates likely just produce higher piles of cash.

If corporate Canada already has half a trillion dollars more than it wishes to invest in physical or financial assets, there is no reason to expect that corporate tax cuts will boost investment. On the contrary, if the government collected more of this money and invested it directly, Canada would have more investment in total.

Not surprisingly, advocates of corporate tax cuts are trying to rationalize corporate cash hoarding as a normal and positive activity.

As Eric Pineault showed graphically and Statistics Canada shows numerically, corporate Canada’s overall approach for at least two decades has been to stockpile ever more cash through good times and bad (with only very rare and slight exceptions). Advocates of corporate tax cuts have not provided a consistent or convincing explanation of how accelerating this ongoing cash accumulation benefits the Canadian public.

More here:

http://www.progressive-economics.ca/2011/07/02/rationalizing-corporate-cash-stash/

The corporate tax rate decreased as follows:

  • 28% effective 2000
  • 27% effective 2001
  • 25% effective 2002
  • 23% effective 2003
  • 21% effective 2004

Conservatives Voted into office 2006

  • 21% before January 1, 2008
  • 19.5% effective January 1, 2008

Economic Crash 2008

  • 19% effective January 1, 2009
  • 18% effective January 1, 2010
  • 16.5% effective January 1, 2011
  • 15% effective January 1, 2012

If you look back further back you can see the Liberals raised Corporate Tax when they got into office relieving the Mulroney Conservatives during an economic crash. As Canada started recovering and having surpluses the tax rate slowly dropped. It took 2 years from taking office to start having growth in the economy and job market.

The Harper Conservatives take the opposite approach. Instead of people and Corporations each paying more to pay debt and stem the recession, we have Corporations getting a free ride. While are recording profits, the recession continues for the people.

During the time before the crash the Harper Conservatives were busy cutting other taxes such as the Capital gains tax (Tax on sale of stocks, bonds, precious metals and property primarily)

Almost 5 year of recession/depression and economists are predicting a “double dip recession” where it collapses a second time and with far less income our government is powerless to do anything about it except hope corporations start hiring and soon.

Summing up analogy: If your significant other loses their job you shouldn’t tell your boss you’d like to make half of what you’re usually paid and the company can add the other half to it’s money heap.

After reading this:

Since Tea Partying hostess-with-the-mostest Rep. Michele Bachmann declared her presidential candidacy, Dr. Marcus Bachmann—her gay-barbarian discipline-advocating therapist-husband—has been drawing heightened attention on his own. Some people, including famous-type ones, think maybe Bachmann’s a gay barbarian as well.

Then this gem:

James Urbaniak of The Venture Brothers, who Tumbled: “It’s pretty much a given that the most vociferously homophobic men are usually repressing something. But, oh Mary, Michele Bachmann’s husband Marcus takes the ever-loving cake. He’s a cure-the-gay therapist out of a John Waters movie. I haven’t seen flames this high since the last California wildfire…”

On twitter “#MarcusBachmanIsSoGay”; the hashtag got a bit of traction.

I had to get in on it.

What I’ve learned about the Canada Post lockout situation so far.

Conservatives have a great opportunity to be fiscally responsible. Instead kill jobs, waste billions of dollars and show they prefer corruption and secrecy.

(1)Tony Clement and a small committee of cabinet ministers, is responsible for finding $4-billion in continuing annual savings across government.

It’s a key part of the government’s plan to balance the budget by 2014-15.

What’s a simple way to do this, plus create jobs?

(2)Marc- Andre Gagnon, a Carleton University professor says a universal pharmacare program for all Canadians could result continuing annual savings of $10.7 billion a year.

Well that was easy. Almost $7 billion extra to spare.

(1)Public servants were called to meetings Monday afternoon at Public Works where the cuts – totalling $172.2-million and affecting 687 jobs over three years – were explained. 92 auditor positions across Canada will be terminated.

The decision to eliminate auditing jobs at Public Works is raising eyebrows given the department’s close connection to political contracting scandals throughout history. The department is in the midst of overseeing a $35-billion wave of military purchases – including new ships and icebreakers

Also more spending that should raise eyebrows but won’t without the purchases being audited.

(3)F-35 stealth fighter jets could cost Canada $29.3 billion, according to the parliamentary budget office — nearly double the government’s initial estimate of $16 billion.

Thatcher aide reportedly said, “Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin. That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts.” American conservatives were outraged.

I LOL’d. The only thing worse for the nutbar portion of the American right wing ego would be if Reagan rose from the dead to tell Palin this fact.
